  • VE Day 60th Anniversary Celebrations

    Friday 29th April - Tuesday 3rd May

Ballynahinch Regeneration Ltd is delighted to announce that celebrations will be held to commemorate the 60th anniversary of VE day in Ballynahinch and the surrounding area.

To commemorate this momentous period in our history, and to celebrate the sixty years of world peace that generations have enjoyed since, Ballynahinch is hosting a fabulous four-day festival from Friday the 29th April until Tuesday the 3rd May.

Whilst the festival will have a wartime theme, it will in no way glamourise it, celebrating instead the spirit, fashions and culture of the Second World War period.

Ballynahinch will effectively be 'stepping back in time' for the whole period of the festival with an ongoing display at the Market House byt the Down Museum. There will also be wartime film shows and a shop window dressing competition being organised by Down District Council all adding to the atmosphere.

A campaign in the local media should ensure a lot of visitors during the festival which is why we need all the help we can get. We need volunteers to make sandwiches, man stalls and help in a wide variety of ways.

If you can spare some time on any of the the festival days we would love to hear from you! Or if you require any further information about any of the events please get in touch with Julie or Lisa at the Market House on 9756 4050
