  • Santa visits the Market House
The Ballynahinch Christmas lights were switched on last Friday night by Santa, who had arrived by fire engine. He took a few minutes to speak to the large group of local children (and parents) who had turned up to take part in the event.

There was a short bible reading and a prayer conducted by members of the Ballynahinch Inter Church Group, the Rev Marasine Stansfield, Rev Cannon Gerry McCrory and the Rev Alan Meara.

    The Market House tree
Santa read everyone his Christmas message and then a count-down was organised for the big event. Right on the button, he pressed the switch that lit up the Market House and revealed the Christmas tree on the Square, with it's colourful new blue lights.

The children then went into the Market House where they took part in making their own Christmas cards and the face painters had plenty of customers too. Santa gave out selection boxes and the children queued to have their photo taken sitting on his knee.
Then it was upstairs to the main hall for a thrilling Magic Show presented by entertainer Johnny Kielty. All the children took part and judging by the noise they all thoroughly enjoyed thmeselves

The event was organised by Ballynahinch Regeneration and many thanks to everyone who helped to make the evening a great success.

    Everyone enjoyed the Magic Show
The photos are now ready at the Market House, and can be collected any day during normal business hours. A big thank you to all the parents and children who took part and I'm sure we can persuade Santa to come back again next year.
