Why not have a look at the Photo Page? >>> A visit from a large group from the French town of Lamorlaye to County Down in March impressed some of them so much that they decided to come and spend their Summer holiday here, and they will undoubtedly be back. The success of the trip was guaranteed by the genuinely warm welcome provided by all who had any contact with them whether in the business sense or in the social sense. This is what they told me when I enquired of them what had been the highlight of the holiday. |

The guests enjoyed a packed programme of horse-riding, day-trips evening
entertainment, picnics and cultural visits. They stayed at Bushymead, on
the road to Drumaness, where the Murphy family pulled out all the stops to
ensure that the craic was nonstop and the food an accommodation were second
to none.
A DVD show one night, a disco another night and a barbecue in Delamont were just a few of the extras provided by Philip and his family. The group had two excellent days at the Drumgooland riding centre and were full of praise for the staff there. The Twinning committe were very fortunate to have the services of Michael McConville and the Down Accessible Transport from the moment of arrival at Dublin airport until the return there on the final day. Michel Richer led the walking trip to Newcastle and David Stewart was always on hand to act as guide and interpreter when needed. The day trip to the Giants' Causeway was somewhat marred by the weather but even that couldn't dampen the spirits of those who 'viewed' the Bushmills Distillery! |

Jacques and Regiane, the grandparents of Clementine and Apolline were
particularly impressed with the display given by the local members of the
PSNI commenting that the French Police would never be as approachable.
David took on the task of entertaining the adults while the others were riding and the visited several of the local places of interest including Castleward and St. Patrick's grave. In the evenings songs were sung and stories were related in McNulty's, the Seaforde Inn and the Primrose. Even the journeys to and from the airport were punctuated with stops in Carlingford and Fitzpatrick's restaurant. We look forward to seeing many more guests from Lamorlaye in the area to enjoy the delights of County Down in future years and thank Lisa Doherty in the Market House for making all the arrangements and our appreciation also goes to Pat Ward, and Nigel and Berni Patterson who helped out on many of the outings |
