Ballynahinch Regeneration is now on the web bringing the latest news on its projects to local people as well as a worldwide audience. Its new website on www.ballynahinchregeneration.org is a mix of topicality and history with images, maps and editorial all putting across the group’s positive contribution to the market town’s life.

The electronic address has been up and running for about a month now, though it will be another few weeks before the main search engines start registering it. One of the regeneration group’s committee members, James Cummiskey, whose background is as a contract programmer in the IT industry, is the man behind the web.

    Down Democrat, 18th March, 2003
James, speaking to the Democrat, said he hopes the site will rekindle interest among local people in the rich history of Ballynahinch as well as attracting visitors to the town from across the world.

There are several historical links featured on the site, including essays by Sidney McCullough and local historian Horace Reid. These are balanced by up to the moment reports on the regeneration group’s projects across the Ballynahinch area.
"The objective of the site is two-fold. We want to inform local people about the history of the town and what we as a group are doing to improve the quality of life for residents. But we also are keen to attract as many worldwide vlsitors as possible to the area. The Internet is the perfect tool to enable us to do that.

I would be delighted if all those who visit the site communicate their ideas and impressions to us. The site will he updated on a regular basis and hopefulIy expanded in the future in response to what our electronic visitors want." James said.
