  • The Market House Summer Scheme

Why not have a look at the Photo Page? >>>
The Market House Summer Scheme began on the 11th of August and is set to run for three weeks with plenty of activities for children in the 7 - 11 age group to enjoy.

During the first week, children worked with Down Community Arts making T-shirts, swords and hats all with the theme of 'Pirates'.

The second week saw visits by a group of artists who use the Market House to run their weekly art classes. (Further details on our   What's On Page )

Children made drums with Marty Roland, clay models with Bernie McCann and enjoyed various kinds of dancing with Gillian Jones.
    Update September, 2003
Thank you to all volunteers and arts facilitators who helped to deliver the First Arts and Crafts Summer Scheme. It was a great success and we look forward to seeing you all again.

This three-week programme brought together children from all areas of Ballynahinch to take part in a variety of arts activities.

The scheme was thoroughly enjoyed by all the children who attended and a party was held on the final Friday afternoon with everyone taking part in the games.

    Presentation of Certificates

Before the party began, the Chairman of Ballynahinch Regeneration, Vincent Fullam, assisted by Lisa Doherty who ran the scheme, presented each child with a beautifully printed certificate.

The inscription congratulated each of them on completing the First Market House Summer Scheme in August 2003, and was signed by the the Chairman
Volunteers who completed their child protection training through the Keeping Safe programme helped a variety of facilitators create magnificent pieces of art, from pirate hats to clay plates and drums, to dances from Grease.
