Following a large number of successful visits and exchanges over the
six years since its inception, the Ballynahinch/Lamorlaye Twinning
Association has embarked on its most prestigious and challenging
project to date. Most of the hard work of preparation has been done for
the event, which will take place over the weekend of 11th to 14th of
December.
Many local people are involved, including a choir of over 40 pupils from The High School Ballynahinch, St. Colman’s High School and The Assumption Grammar, who, supported by an equal number of French schoolchildren from Lamorlaye, will sing carols on the Grande Place in Brussels on the Friday afternoon. The singing is being co-ordinated by Lynsey Harvey, music teacher at The High School and locals may see a repeat of this performance on Video-link at The Market House on the Saturday between 11.30 am and 12.30 pm. The Chairperson of the association, Colette Clarke and Assistant Secretary, David Stuart have met with Lamorlaye counterpart, Annie Royer, in Brussels to check out venues and to finalise details of visits to The Northern Ireland Office there and to The European Parliament and the Christmas Markets. The culmination of the weekend will be an hour-long Video-link between the Market House in Ballynahinch and the Foyer Culturel in Lamorlaye on Saturday Morning 13th December. All visitors are welcome to come and see for themselves what the Twinning Association is about and to enjoy the hospitality of the Market House and the afternoon entertainment on the Square organised by the Towns’ Centre Manager, Eric Tommasini. This event is for everyone in the area and is supported by local councillors, MEPs and even the Chairman of the European Parliament himself hopes to be able to put in an appearance. |
